In keeping with Thomson Reuters’ commitment to support our customers in a challenging environment, we have introduced “Practical Guidance” section in Workers Compensation Law Manual Qld (WCQLD).

As the new author of WCQLD, Anna Hendry, says:

Our new practical chapters provide busy practitioners with an overview of particular issues and further direction towards more detailed information as required. They also provide comment on the current practices of the major Queensland insurer.

Initially, the practical chapters will focus on procedural aspects of the common law claim process, with subsequent chapters focussing on key challenging areas. The chapters are intended to provide a useful starting point for junior practitioners as well as a quick refresher for more experienced practitioners.

We have already released four chapters:

  1. Interaction between the Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Act and the Motor Accident Insurance Act;
  2. Entitlement to common law damages;
  3. Bringing a claim for common law damages; and
  4. Investigating a claim.

Another two chapters – Joining a contributor and Issuing a liability response – will be released in our upcoming update of the service.

We will continue to add more content to this section on topics that are relevant and useful to practitioners.

Workers Compensation Law Manual Qld is available as looseleaf, online on Westlaw AU and as an esub on Proview.
